Hello all, it's been a while...
I haven't posted anything in a while but I do look through the forum most days, you just never know when you'll spot some useful bit of info you didn't know you needed to know until you read it!
I make mostly custom black frames for artists and collectors and have just recently moved out of my tiny conservatory into (what seems to me) a huge workshop.
Please have a look at a selection of recent frames I've made, mostly Dutch ripple, tabernacle and Flemish corner frames in black with water gilding.
Hope you like them!
Regards
Matt

Absolutely stunning frames Matt, hope this doesn’t mean you’ve been neglecting your painting as they were always stunning too!
Well done,
Allan

We're proud of you.
A bit alarmed at how quick you've picked all this up!

Thanks for all the comments! 2 years yesterday since I bought my first moulding to play about with, I've had some great advice over that time though that's helped hugely.

What more does he need to say? His frames speak for themselves. Truely remarkable and almost beyond words!

Good Job(s) Matt.
I find black finishes are quite tricky to do well. People tend to think they are easy (=cheap).
The only thing worse is white.

Some of these obviously were quite intricate and needed an amount of accuracy which is not really possible for many other frames. These are all so beautifully executed. Such amazing quality of workmanship! Just out of interest, do you produce these to order for customers, or to suit your existing artworks, or just as items available to sell as just frames? I just can't tell you how impressed I am with your amazing frames!

Mark, most are custom made for clients with most orders coming from Instagram. I do make a few for my own paintings and try and make some for stock but most are orders. Selling lots to artists, art collectors, interior designers and and a few art galleries.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply. I noticed that you mentioned "Interior Designers" a lot of them are having a hard time right now and they are having to think "out of the box" quite a lot just to keep going. I get to produce some bits and pieces, sometimes for one, or to of them as well. It's not particularly great business, but I've got a few orders for when I've got the time. It's not very easy right now as I have to be looking after my wife most of the time after her stroke, but I've been looking for work that fits in well with looking after my wife and this sort of stuff is very helpful.
