oval cut using Valiani CMC
Hi
I have a Valiani Mat Pro iX CMC which I love
However I find lately that oval cuts are not going the whole way round.
It will cut arches and other fancy cuts and also small ovals but anything over about 250mm and the cut comes up short.
I use V studio but I also tried on FMD and it had the same problem
Techs in Australia don't know the solution so I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it
Many thanks
Mark

Yes
There is a little white plastic topped screw on the back of the machine, this determines how far round it travels when cutting ovals, there are two of these on the front for the start and stop points for straight cuts, bare with me I will find a photo.

I can't find one on the tinterweb, I will get Jamie to photograph it when he gets in, it's my day off today.
Re: oval cut using Valiani CMC
I've had this problem for ages, on tiny ovals it does about 3 complete laps and on huge ones it stops about 40mm short!
But it's only on the green head, not the yellow head, so I don't see how it can be fixed on the machine, surely it's done in settings?
I get round the problem by turning the design 180 degrees and re-cutting!

So it is right at the back at the end of the long boom it has a locking coller that may have come loose.
All the machine settings have to control physical things, and all of these need to be set up correctly to work,

Re: oval cut using Valiani CMC
It will always go quite away further round on small ovals because it lowers the head incrementally on these to create a smooth entry and a nice oval.

Mark. Can you send your CMC serial number please.
The reason is if the machine is before 2007 there is not a screw regulator on the back of the Y arm.
See Photo.

I have that screw regulator on mine.
The coller seems fine
Can I adjust it?
And yes Merlin yours is cleaner than mine too

Yeah you can adjust it., all it wil do is make the cut travel a bit further.

Re: oval cut using Valiani CMC
Wow I am intrigued to see you poor valiani users have to set something for this. The trucut has an algorithm in the software which adjusts the amount of cut depending on the diameter of the oval, perfect cut every time

Re: oval cut using Valiani CMC
The Val software can also adjust the cut, has to, for different thickness boards at least.

I like the sound of the algorithm, I can you buy them for the valiani?

Re: oval cut using Valiani CMC
Users don't really have to fiddle with that screw, it's set up at the factory and the rest is done on the machine settings, I managed to alter mine when I moved the machine, must have caught the screw some how, anyway easy fix and should not need faffing with again.
