Underpinner v nails

Hi,

I'm a furniture maker by trade but occasionally make picture frames. Normally I strengthen the mitres using veneer keys.

Yesterday I picked up this old underpinner for £35. Thought it was a good buy for occasional use. Everything seems to work as it should. The guide/head looks like it accepts 10mm wide v nails.

Are all v nails universal and does anyone know the make or model of the underpinner.

That's a Euro 'Butterfly' model. I stated off with the basic (8001?) model which I used for 30+ years. They do have their quirks
though.... The pressure pad is a bit inadequate and can dent soft wood. I made a cork-faced triangle of ply to place between
the corner and pad.

I started with one too. Euro moildings went bust years ago, their HQ was a few miles from me in Worthing

If you ever see a Morso that colour, it's one of theirs, they had the manufacturer spray them to match their underpinners!

I used these V nails, it won't take over 15mm and I never tried smalller than 7mm. Like most non-pneumatic underpinners, it's not that good with oak and ash.
