Norfolk Mouldings

Post by prospero »

I found out this morning that Norfolk Mouldings are closing down.

Sad news and I'm not sure how it will affect the industry.

Before I start trawling the internet can anyone recommend any other companies that do custom
milling of picture frame mouldings?

I know R&H will custom mill a profile, though they may ask for a min 100ft or so.
And there's also Piaf2, although I've never dealt with them.

Kingswood Frames I believe will mill out a small order for you. Speak to Tim, he's an active member on this forum.

I could look a those if anyone wants anything
The machines I have though aren't what I used to own so you're going to need to sand them
We're also looking to provide gesso frames as we spray quite a few
We're also mechanising the Dutch ripple machine in October or November so there may be some price shifts in those too.

Bevil at Norfolk I think used to do specials for Rose and Hollis as did I in the day but demand fell off and maybe Bevil thought it was time

Ashworth ,KC glass and now Norfolk mouldings
Interesting.

Thanks for the mention Dermot

TimH. :D

At the moment I'm in need of this...
PROB2.jpg
Not the most tricky profile to do. In fact I used to make it myself but it's a PITA using the timber I have readily available.

The good news is that it doesn't have to be particularly brilliant timber as it is a 'bridge' piece for a stacked combination
and is not visible on the finished frame. As long as it's not over twisty.

I'm looking for about 600ft.

Yes, sad about Norfolk. I'm looking for an alternative place to mill my mouldings (which are mostly flats and sub frames)

Norfolk were great, gave you what you ask for and their prices were good too.
