Underpinner recommendation!
Good morning - our Cassese underpinner is driving us nuts and rather than keep replacing the block and wedge hammer, we are considering buying a new machine. We would prefer a manual machine (not Cassese!) Any recommendations please? Thank you

Have a search for a Hoffmann MU2 on ebay.

It is rare that (unless you're a contract framer) the wedge blocks wear out on Cassese underpinners, dependent upon which model you have hammers typically tend to get damaged by poor wedge feed tension from the cartridge spring (older models) or elastic cord (newer models) which causes the hammer to make only partial contact with the hammer tip which in turn leads to jamming/damage.
The springs / cord need changing on a regular basis as does the removal and cleaning of the distributor block (as per the user manual) this should eliminated a large percentage of the issues you are experiencing.
