I attended a course and one part was marketing. He talked a lot about that I have to get more reviews to get higher up when people search for framing.
A few weeks ago I got a visit from Keith and a gave me a copy of a framing magazine. With an article about handing out google review cards. So I'm thinking about that.
Or if I should send a text message to the customer with a link to the review.
Do you ask customers for reviews on google (or some other place)?
As I understand it, the methods that Google uses to rank websites, which dictates how close to the top you get are always changing. In my experience logging into your website and making some regular changes/additions to it does seem to help, as does having some Google reviews I suspect. More importantly I think reviews give potential customers a sense of who they are thinking about entrusting their precious pieces to.
I've always struggled with asking for reviews and as such I still only have 7!
There are occasions when a customer is particularly happy or moved to tears by a finished piece and I think I should ask them, but I'm reluctant to spoil their moment...
I hope you liked the short piece in the Art & Framing magazine, it was a simple example which you can improve on design-wise. I have found it useful to include with the till receipt or hand to the customer when they collect their piece.
Reviews are important but I would be careful 'what you ask for' unprompted reviews can be good or bad (hopefully good) if you ask, I would expect you would get a cross section of all customer experiences. Recently I have received auto requests to leave a review for my dentist and my wife's car servicing both would have been 1 out of 5 (you can't leave 0) I didn't do it but was tempted by 'you asked' so here we go.......
Every so often I go through a phase of asking for reviews so I send out this message by text or email. I have a decent number of reviews on each platform.
Thank you for your recent purchase from me at The Picture Framer (ML).
I hope your item now has pride of place on the wall!
If you are satisfied with the work done can you spare a few minutes to leave a review?
As a small business owner this type of feedback is very important and will help others in their own research before getting something framed.
Below are some suggestions for places to leave a review, but no need to write on all of them!
I wouldn't limit yourself to just asking for Google reviews because if a customer isn't registered with Google, they wouldn't be able to do that. The same goes for any other site that you have to register with in order to use it, eg Facebook. You need testimonials on your web site as well as Google and social media so that people who aren't registered with Google or social media can see them.
