Hello - New from a new member

Post by MitreMSS »

Hello, and Greetings from Canada,

I just picked up a Morso 8900 chopper and a Taurus 292 F/P.

Looking for some knobs and pins and some help operating the pinner.

Totally new to framing. Help is greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised - its had 700 views and no one has said "Welcome" :?:
I thought we were proud to be a friendly bunch :giggle:

Or told Gary to check out The Grumble as more likely to not only greet him, but a better source of info for a Canadian.

Hello, Keith!

Very kind of you to forward some information. Greatly appreciated.

Maybe I should have said a little about myself. A father of two. A man who loves to read and create. Happy to have found this new journey of framing. Very excited about the possibilities.

Thanks again, Keith!

It’s not had 700 views in less than 24 hrs, Keith / nothing would!

It’s a forum glitch, happened before, not long ago. All recent threads are the same.

Welcome Gary! I did also think that you'll get much more relevant info from the North America based Grumble, but hey you made it here!!
Welcome to the UK's version of a busy forum!

Hey Gary ... welcome!

I went the other way round, I found The Grumble first and they pointed me here when I said I was from the UK :-)

This forum is better than the grumble. At least if you just want to scroll around and read. The grumble’s layout and colours make me dizzy.

I wouldn’t say it’s better at all. It’s different and it’s a good idea being a member of both forums.

TFG is far bigger and busier but then it’s based in the US, but it’s also more proactive - themes change with seasons, holidays, etc. it has many donators, including me. it’s social sub forum “warped moulding” is always busy. It was all even busier but social media has taken its toll; moreso here though I think, as there’s only a small core of regular contributors left now.

I joined it in 2002, 4 years before I heard about this forum.

Stina,

I am from the "cousin" forum in USA, and think both are very important to have an easily searchable history of previous framing topics. Social media groups are one pile of uncategorized discussion, and difficult to search. Forums like this stick around, as data collection free and long term reliable resource. It's a volunteer effort.

Feel free to contact me directly any time, if you have suggestions on how the layout or colors could be improved. Yes, we try to "skin" it for every major holiday, just to keep it interesting, but much of that can also be turned off by the user.
