Keencut Excalibur 6000 Squaring problem, heeeelp please

Post by mikeemb »

:head: Hi guys,

So in November we bought a new keencut Excalibur 6000, it arrived and the box was full of broken parts, keencut sent me new ones to replace but it would not square up, presumably it was damaged in transit.

So fast forward months and they finally replaced it a few weeks ago and in the box when opened was, you guessed it.. Broken parts, so again keencut sent me replacements, I fitted them, I've tried to square going off the video they send but yet again I can't get it squared.

I've uploaded where I'm at to you tube (link below) if anyone has any experience with the 6000 or squaring then please take a look and give me your verdict. :head:

I have emailed keencut but it seems thet only reply once a day and oddly always around midnight.

Don't they have an engineer who could come and help? If not that's quite a bad show. I remember setting up our Fletcher wall mounted cutter was a bit of a rigmarole.

Did you loosen the locking nut on the base of the plastic wing nut?

I have adjusted our older 5000 model but can not remember off the top of my head how I did it, if I remember I'll have a look on Monday.

From memory, I made a cut at the bottom of the board the turned it over so the cut is then at the top, loosened the bolts and adjusted the screw untill the blade lined up with the cut, make sure that the board is up against the stop for both the cut and then lining it up after turning over.
My adjustment screw is at the top rather than the bottom like yours but it should all work the same.

You do need to use a board that is absolutely square (well oblong with 90° corners).

If the original cut is to the left and the 2nd cut is to the right, then you need to back off the adjustment you made for the 2nd cut until it's half way.
I found it easier and more accurate on my 5000 to use a large ish sheet. Cut approx 1" off LHS, turn the sheet side to side so the bottom remains the same and cut 1" off what was the other side, now measure super accurately the top and bottom side to side. It will likely be tapering up or down (an isosceles trapezium), keep cutting and adjusting until top and bottom is the exactly same.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've been on video calls with the head engineer at keencut for the last 2 weeks and I'm still no closer to sorting it, 5 months from purchasing new now and I've still never been able to use it.

I've finally had enough and told them, 2 options, get someone up here to fix it or replace it or get someone to come and pick it up and refund me.

I've lost so much custom in the last 5 months because of this mess.
