Stinky shirts!

A potential customer came to ask about framing a match worn and signed football shirt, mainly because his wife says it stinks

I said I wasn’t so sure framing it would help with the smell, and it’s been signed as well so can’t be wasted. Would something like fabreze help?

How do others deal with match worn shirts when framing?

I've just given my framing jumper a good dose of Febreeze.

Along with the sage advice we are picture framers not magicians, is the advice we frame what we are given. I recently was asked to frame an old creased and crumpled film poster, the result was a framed creased and crumpled film poster. The customer was super happy as we had a conversation at the start and he appreciated the situation.

Get it in, you won’t get the work otherwise, see what it smells like, surely not that bad after just a couple of hours wear, but if there is any lingering pong, hang it outside, out of the sun for a day or two and re-sniff.

Another idea - we have an air freshener in our front porch, one if those ones you can lift the cover to increase the potency, if too high all the clothing hanging there reeks of it!

Yeah a little airing might be in order. What's the likelihood of offgassing with a stinky shirt??
