Price pointer for a Keencut cutter Ultimate Gold or Futura

Post by Starboard »

Dear Forum,

I did my learning course on a Keencut Futura and we were told that the Ultimate Gold or the Futura had the advantage of using super good ball bearing guides - that basically need little or no servicing. i have to say that working on the Futura felt like driving a Bentley.

What would you reckon is a fair price for either, second hand?

Thanks for your pointers.

Your best bet is to search for both, in topic titles only, in the adverts/sales/wants forum.

The ultimat gold never came with ball bearing guides, it came with nylon bearings, although there used to be an upgrade available.

Fletcher Terry mount cutters use ball bearings

Thanks, JKX.

Will give a look at the "for sale" section.

I found a Keencut Futura for £500 in a good shape, i think i'll go for this – not that i have used many other cutters, but the Futura's action was incredibly smooth.

The Futura is a good machine, the Ulimat Gold is really quite old now.
I would suggest if you have space to try and find a 62", then it covers pretty much all mount board sizes

Thanks for this.

I bought a second hand Futura, 48" I don't have a large studio. I think £500 (costs £1,770 new) is a fair price.
