Pet Peeves

Post by Framing Norah »

My pet peeve at the moment is the stiff hinged single 'D' rings that are all set the "wrong" way, meaning that we have to force the hinge in the opposite direction before we can screw it down.

We purchase these in packs of 1000. Assuming that it is a six second operation to make this correction, each pack is costing us 1hour, 40 minutes of workshop time.

I'm sure that it would be as easy for the manufacturer to have the hinge set the "right" way as the "wrong" way.

Norah you are going to start something here!

I have so many that I could be here for some time, but the one that really winds me up is the customer that comes through the door and counter acts my friendly - 'Hello there' - with 'I'm just looking'! I would love to reply with - 'oh that's a strange greeting what country are you from?'

Manners cost nothing, whay can't they just say hello then ignore me

Ok.

Who's got my pencil?

I had it in my hand two minutes ago!

my wife has your pencil - she is a pencil thief and will steal pencils from anywhere, she can even remove pencils from behind my ear without me noticing - there is no hope for her.

As for annoying things - velcro coins that give up the task of sticking to chevrons as soon as it gets warm. slight rise in temperature and you can hear the clump of chevrons falling.

"If I win the lottery" aghhaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, so that's where it's gone.

Mark, would your wife also happen to know the whereabouts of my specs and the tv remote. :?:

They couldn't possibly be lost, I'm much too organized.

obviously the tv remote control is under a cushion on the sofa - and the specs are on top of your head - my wife says she didnt steal your pencil - its behind your ear.

I would just like to add that framing Nora has highlited a peev that i hadnt realy noticed - a tub of D rings has just become many minutes of irritation. doh!

Peeve: Fathers who don't listen! Your pencil is in the wee trough thing you keep your 'lunch' in!!

Oh and stupid old women that stand leaning in an open door but won't actually walk into the shop for a look. Do they think I'm going to bite them? ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!

The people that press themselves up against our front window trying to avoid walking into the place wind me up too!!

I am worried about you - it all starts with your location - Sunny Belfast - can you get out of that shop without biting the old women and squeezing past the poor people stuck to your windows - when you get outside you will probably find its wet Belfast and you should have taken the opportunity to enjoy the few minutes sunshine while it lasted. 8) 8)

We seem to have wandered off topic somehow.

But it turns out that this might be the very place to get the answer to something that has perplexed me for years.

Where does that one sock go that disappears without fail from every load of washing?

(Could they all end up down the back of John's sofa?)

Another peeve - trust me folks I have loads  - Prints that are rolled image side out. I always feel nervous about marking it and it make the process of unrolling and showing it to the customer pants!

Oh and a word form the auld fella - "black mounts are BEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEPING BEEP" Apparantly he hates black mounts  He has a point they do mark quite easily and the dust seems to be attracted to it no matter how often the glass is cleaned.

As for the socks Norah it's the evil washing machine elf that steals them, that's why in our house we tie the tops together before we wash them.
