I also seem to use quite a lot of black but always do it myself. I use a sponge and a good quality PVA black paint and put on layers until it looks good ( some customers like to see the grain coming through) When dry, I wipe it down with a matt sealer and presto. It is more labour intensive than yanking a factory finished thing off the shelf but in the long run less hassle and repairable if bumped around by the customer.
Rose & Hollis ready-stained black ash is a lot quicker than hand-finishing, if the profile is suitable. You do have to colour the cut edges first though.
The painting "Woman at the window" by Israel Zohar. 36"x48" Oil on canvas. Sorry I had to spoil it. Copyrights and all that....
All the tones were cool and downbeat. A goldy frame would not look right at all. Variations on a basic Black theme much more complimentary.
Outer moulding slightly textured satin black with a bit of grain.
Panel heavy textured in grey base with top coat of diluted black.
Inner sliver over black.
White liner.
Lights are giving the top a warm cast....The bottom edge is the truer colour.
But I think the picture should be entitled "How to cause a RTA"
(Can you make the 'O' in 'Demo' a bit smaller please)
Oh no. The inoccent must be protected.
If you are a good boy, I'll show you the other one. (paintings that is)
It's quite a weird picture actually. There is a prominent window frame within the painting which threw me a bit on the design. Quite an odd effect with a 'real' frame around it.
