Beautiful piece of work

Post by The Crofter »

Just about to close up today when a friend walks in an asks me if I can do anything with this picture. It was purchased for £50 at a charity auction to fund our local community bus.

Image

Not going to comment on the quality of the artwork !. Just a few issues with the mounting...

Bet you lot with your super dooper CMC's can't produce this sort of workmanship. It must have taken a lot of skill and effort to hack this unique shape.

Moving on to the superb closed corners and interesting mountboard decoration.

Image

Looking at the back one can only admire the close fitting mountboard, archival sellotape and the skill with which two mountboards have been joined to fill the frame.

Class, absolute class.

Pat,

That looks so much like the framing done by a local artist who frames his own work. I wonder if he is exporting his framing now?

... can too.

I Just turn my back on it for five seconds and anything horrible can happen ;)

one of the problems we get is customers presenting art in poor mounts, and refusing to have it re-mounted (often because its a photo and the mount is signed ffs) and then some loon in the workshop still puts one of our stickers on it :(

Osgood,

I can send the bits back if he wants to reuse anything. Forgot to mention the frame is delightfully warped as well.

No need to send it back as he is a highly paid professional as well as a successful artist. He probably makes more in a month than most of us framer do in a year!

Haven't figured why he frames his own art yet!
Oh yeah, I just figured it out - it's the gr##d word!

May be you can pass on some suggestions from the "What do you do with your morso excrement" thread for some ideas on what to do with it all....

Good lord, Can you imagine the time and effort that must have gone into joining said bits of board, Would probably have been quicker and considerably easier to just do a proper job in the first place,,... tut tut. :giggle:
