Found some program-changes in the Roger Waters "Into the Flesh" and the newer "Dark Side of the Moon"-tour. Some songs are more spectacular. But the new video of the submarine is very beautiful. In the older show they shoot a torpedo at an oil-platform. In the new show the sub dives up in a large square-pool but I can't remember the target. The video is made with latest technics. He also used a lot of pyrotechnics and a song with canon-shots included. Not sure if the latino-lady was part of the singers now. When a DVD appears I will buy..... ;)

Well, I came home last night from a concert on a total high. (HOORAY!)

I was singing in it - in The Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir (BOOOOO!)

In some church in Southwick, near Hove, we were good but the harpist was better!

Usually our musical director, who does lots of stuff with kids, brings a harpist along, young up and coming girls, all very clever; sometimes a harp duet. We sing 4 or 5 songs, 3 harp tunes, we sing more, interval, we sing more, harp, we sing more, encore, all go home.

This time the harpist was a bit older - thirties tops, man she was mesmerising, I can't remember the titles of most she played but she had to do an encore in each of her sessions.

The three I do remember were 'Stairway to Heaven' - 'Penny Lane' and 'Tea for two'. Before playing she talked about the tunes and before playing the first two of those mentioned, she said "I hope you will forgive me if I, to use a term in the classical music world, give it some welly"

Anyway, we finished with an Elvis number!

That must make you feel at home. :D

The other day I saw an advert for what looked like a superb harp concert jut a few miles from here. I got all excited and then noticed the date of the concert. I'd missed it. :(

We have tickets for a Cecilia Bartoli concert for tomorrow. :D This afternoon we had a phone call to say she's ill and it's been cancelled. :(

We'd already organised someone to dog sit and feed the donkey so we're now going to Aida instead (www.wmc.org.uk/index.cfm?alias=aida).

Cor - Welsh subtitles!

Turns out the harpist is a pro, did this concert for free - found her on Google, you can listen to extracts.

We've noticed that when we go to Cardiff to an orchestral concert, where there is a harp they always have two in the orchestra. Probably some initiative from the Welsh assembly to provide work for Welsh harpists.

Just been looking on youtube for some old Bjork stuff - I first knew of her in the Sugarcubes with the classic 'birthday' (which has lyrics that are quite disturbing to me now, but I didn't think about it at the time)

There was plenty of Sugarcube stuff I liked at the time but apart from the above, this one stands the test of time IMO

But what an incredible voice she's got!

Not the first time i've worked the evening listening to Radiohead. First time it was live though. They're playing tonight in Victoria Park - if you look on the new map thingy you'll see how come i can hear it. I'd be there right now myself if -
1. I'd known about the gig before the tickets sold out
2. I could afford the £50 or something they wanted me to pay
3. I could take this evening off without jeopardising an exhibition deadline

Life sucks some tuesday nights doesn't it? :head:
