Very slow links

Post by deejay »

The last few days it is taking longer and longer to navigate the site. This is only on the Forum, all other sites are just as quick as usual. For example today it took 3 minutes to get into 'ForumIssues' and 1.75 minutes to get to this posting area. It seems to be an issue with the site, so I do hope you can fix it.

The preview took nearly a minute too.

I am in daily conversation with our hosting company to try and resolve this speed issue, however I have noticed that the speed of the site depends a lot on the time of day. Sometimes it can zip along quite smartly and at others is a lot slower than it should be.

Hopefully this issue can be resolved soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

Forum speed is pretty frustrating at present. I would class access time is "at the speed of a striking slug".

I normally browse the forum around 8.30 to 9 in the morning (nice way to start the working day) and haven't noticed any speed problems at that time of day.

I'm glad to say that today everything is functioning at the gallop. I usually log in at about 4.30 in the afternoon and normally havbe no problems, except for the previously mentioned last few days, so perhaps it's general traffic issues.

There no school tommorow. None of the little darlings are up in their bedrooms clogging up the bandwith.

I always assumed that the 3-8 sec delay in page updating was the result of the distance from the server in the UK to the US. Today is exceptionally slow for some reason.

Jerome, the forum server is in the USA.

And surprisingly, refresh times are quite good today, here in Ireland.

Go figure. :)
