Waste glass disposal.
Re: Waste glass disposal.
Three things - we paint on it ( see Enjoyed this one! in Members only)
- I bury some under the brick paved areas around the garden to stop the moles from carting away the sand
- I too smash up the rest in a drum, pour it into a box and away it goes with the normal refuse. Dumpsters here don't want it amongst their bottles

Re: Waste glass disposal.
Float glass should DEFINITELY not be put in the recycling bins at the supermarket, I know that much. (Which is a terrible shame as there is one 30yds from my door) For about the first three years I was open, I had no idea what to do with the glass so ended up with a workshop full of offcuts! I'm now signed up to G&M's scheme which is brilliant and has certainly helped me tidy up the workshop.
As for all the stashed offcuts, I was chatting to my local glass merchant and he said his big waste bins are emptied at something like £50 a time, so I was welcome to put in as much as I like and pay the relevant proportion of his costs. Job done for about £20!
