Hi guys,
A question for you techies or folks with websites. I am in the process of constructing a website and would like to know how to display mountboard colour samples. Do the manufacturers have a file that you can download and then import to your site?
Also, any tips worth considering regarding websites would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Apollo

Re: website
I may be wrong, but I don't think it is possible to display colours with that degree of accuracy on the web. Main problem is that everybodies monitors will render a slightly different colour/tone. Even printed charts in catalogues can't do it exactly. The only way to see the true colour is have an actual piece of board.

Re: website
Yes, I agree that colour rendition and accuracy would be an issue, but it's really to give people an idea of the range. I have seen other sites with mountboard colour palettes and wondered how one would go about achieving this.

Re: website
Theoretically, there are only 216 "true" web colors that are available cross platform, so trying to display all of our mat (mount) board colors would be impossible.
In addition, even if you were to be able to scan each and every color, and translate that into an accurate RGB profile, each person’s monitor is calibrated differently and would render the color differently.
And, the difference between colors shown on a flat screen and a traditional CRT is vastly different.
(I'm stuck on the word, "different", I guess.)

Re: website
Go to your mount board manufacturer's website copy and paste your selected colours into Photoshop (or other imaging software). Then repeat the colour into a chevron shape or what ever you choose to have on your website. Job done!
I just tried it on Arqadia's website and it worked OK for me.
Alternatively you could ask your supplier for the RGB values.
However, as previously stated monitors vary so what you see may not be what anyone else sees but should give an overall impression.
John.

Re: website
Thaks for the info, people. Much appreciated.
Any other thoughts in general on websites for framing?
I personally will not be offering a full framing service but will be concentrating on specific products that I have developed for sports.
