New Valiani Software
Just had the new software upgrade for our Valiani Mat Pro 120 via Simons.
Loaded onto the computer attached to the CMC which runs Vista and it didn't like it much (no surprises really as with all things Vista).
So dug out an old computer gathering dust in the loft which runs Windows 98! and hey presto! new software runs a dream. Be interested to know if any one has done the upgrade using an XP machine.

Re: New Valiani Software
Hi John,
Glad to see that you were able to overcome the Vista problem.
However, there might be another solution for those who do not have a second machine to fall back on.
In Vista it might be that the program would run in XP compatible mode.
Right click on the exe file and select Properties from the menu, then in the Compatibility tab click on 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and select XP or W98 or whatever.

Hi John,
What version upgrade have you received? The last one we received was Ver.4.4.2 and it loaded OK on our Win XP PC.

Re: New Valiani Software
Graham what version do you have? We have received one upgrade disk since we have had Val and that could be only because we had software problems.

Graham it looks like we're singing from the same hymn sheet anyway. I wonder does johnny2morso have the same version?

Re: New Valiani Software
Sorry for delay in replying.
The software we have been given access to as an upgrade is Version 4.2.1 and in case it makes a difference we have the Mat Pro 120 which was new in August 2006 (Serial No 1506003).
I have now loaded the software onto my Windows XP machine (service pack 3) although this is not connected to the Mat Pro but seems to function OK and useful for doing design work in the shop with the customer if necessary. Then copy over to other computer (Win 98) to do the cutting.
We have moved the Vista computer back home.
So it would seem from other responses there are other more recent versions of the software around with other users but I am happy with what we got so I am not going to go asking for further upgrades.
We bought our Valiani from Richard at Peregrine when he was the importer partly because he is less than 10 miles up the road so we thought he would be accessible should we had ever needed any support.
No we don't get replies to emails to Joe at Simons. We do get replies to emails to Daniel Simons but to tell us he will get Joe to ring us. The Simons Rep made a call to him from our shop while she was with us and could not get to speak to him or return her call! It must be 3 months if not 4 since we originally spoke to Simons about a few glitches in the system but this could in part be due to moving to Windows Vista.
I am, however happy, that Simons have arranged this software upgrade at no cost.

Re: New Valiani Software
Hi John
My machine is the 120 and serial number starts with 15005*****
I gave up a long time ago trying to get in touch with Richard a long time ago and even now trying to get hold of Joe at Simons seems very difficult.
I now go direct to either Nico or Luqa at Vailiani Italy. email: luca@valiani.it
They both respond very quickly and are extremely helpfull.
Request the software upgrade to V4.3. It is a big step forward from V4.2.

Re: New Valiani Software
Thanks
Can I email in English? My Italian is about as good as Capt Alberto Bertorelli in 'Allo, 'Allo!
Must make a point of speaking to Nico Valiani at Springfair in Feb '09.

Re: New Valiani Software
The update will probably work on Vista if you look into the user access controls and enable the download of non-microsoft registered programs.
