watch the chaos ensue in a busy (sometimes) picture framer and Gallery in Edinburgh.

after further investigation, i have discovered my coding is horrendously bad.

(couldn't live test over the weekend as cameras were off)

http://cart.madaboutmounts.co.uk/index. ... _id=webcam for the fixed version

will update the pictureframercam site tonight to reflect this.

Not wishing to rain on your parade but you may get a spot of bother with the cam in tha shop. This link is for guidance to a fire brigade but the data protection points are valid to everyone.

cheers for the heads-up Pat,

we use this camera and also our hardwired camera systems for the purpose of security surveillance, and are registered under the data protection agency as a registered data keeper, the images are only kept for 30 seconds at the most, and are instantly deleted.

We have signs up stating that security and other cameras are in constant use on the premises, and any queries should be directed toward the management.

i think this should cover us.

most of the time it is either myself or Grahame on the gallery camera anyway, as he is usually piloting the CMC, and the camera tracks him as he is near it

hoping to add in a similar camera to the one out the front in the workshop - so it tracks the action as it happens,

worth the outlay, i do like my gadgets :)

I certainly don’t know the laws in the U.K., I tend to agree with Pat in that I’d be very careful with this. (I didn’t look very hard, but I couldn’t see anything in the link that Pat provided that addresses this particular issue.)

While you certainly should have the right to save data such as this for security purposes, placing images on the web might be considered publishing “data” freely.

If these periodic events were newsworthy you probably could show these images to your heart’s content, but they might be considered “commercial entertainment” at which point you may need a “model release” for every customer whose mug appears in the camera.
