There is an undocumented (and unsupported) feature that will allow you to perform edits and deletions.
Bear in mind that the database is a record of the contracts made between you and your customers, and it is for this reason it has been deliberately made difficult to alter, and also to give you a measure of protection from malicious tampering.
(I have sent you a PM with the instructions you require.)

Deleting Customers
Hi John,
I would be grateful for this information too. As a newbie to the Estlite software I have managed to duplicate customers in error and don't want to delete the database.
Many thanks

2) Delete a customer
3) Delete a quotation

Hi Liam,
Thanks for the suggestions.
It is possible to add or subtract from stock the quantity of moulding required for a job without printing a docket. Just price a job on-screen in the usual way, then right-click on the Moulding Id box, and select the appropriate action from the menu.
The program, as it stands, will not record jobs in the database unless they are printed.
However there is a way round this restriction. Just output to a PDF file.
If you don't already have a PDF utility, download and install CutePDF (its free), then in the Printer Setup dialog select CutePDF as your printer. Now when you print a docket, instead of going to a physical printer, it will be written to a PDF File, and the record will be written to the database as if an actual docket had been printed.
(I'm not a big fan of editing or deleting records for the reasons outlined in my previous post.)
You will be happy to know that the price increase is to be applied retroactively

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Please can you send me the undocumented method?
I have several jobs which have been inadventently duplicated (i assume by clicking print more than once?)
And I have wondered about how should deal with an order which is entered and then cancelled by the customer, I would like to be able to delete these such duplicates and keep the list of orders tidy.
If you are not keen on deleting, how about offering the option being able to flag a job as cancelled?
Thanks Liam

Re: Deleting Customers
Hello John,
We now have Estlite up and running and it's making life a lot easier. However, due to there being several members of staff (of varying degrees of computer literacy) using the program we now have customers repeated (sometimes very often) in the database. This has also happened with several jobs. Would you please be kind enough to email me the details of how to delete an entry so I can tidy up the database and set records straight? I would be extremely grateful if you would do this.
Cheers, Martin.

Hi John
Could you also send me details of how to delete customers from my database as I have a few who have died
and one or two duplicated.
Thanks
Jay

Re: Deleting Customers
I seem to be having the opposite problem unless it is the fact that I am using the bbest programme rather than the full estelite. Can you save customer info/dockets and can you save their details rather than having to re input for each frame? As soon as I print it all disappears and have to put in the details again even if they want another frame. Also if I go into the options to add something halfway through a customer transaction if I go back it is gone.
If this is one of the differences in the two programmes then just ignore me.
many thanks
Michelle

Re: Deleting Customers
You guessed right Michelle, BBEst does not 'remember' job or customer details.

The above people asked for instructions and you seem to have sent them a PM.

What I was trying to say is that the email (that I sent in response to your initial query) not only pointed you to this forum topic, it also answered your question about deleting "jobs/invoices and also customers from the database".John wrote:The email not only pointed you here, it also answered your question.
