employment ???
Morning all,
Could someone please point me in the right direction for job seekers ? I am an experienced picture framer with nearly 10 years framing behind me, i have worked in most framing environments and have managed 2 workshops. I am looking for new employment as i am desperately unhappy in my current employ. The trouble is, i have no idea where to even begin looking. Could anyone please point me in the right direction... it would be greatly appreciated. I live in the london area.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Bska,
Well, you've made a start with your post - maybe there is someone registered here looking for a framer.
But the two main trade mags, where you will find framers seeking employees as well as being able to place a job seeking ad are 'The Picture Business' and 'Art Business today'

Thanks Roboframer,
I've had a quick look at both, I'll see about placing an add in one of them maybe.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: employment ???
jobcentre plus. whenever we have a vacancy thats where we put it first.
And dont be afraid to send out CVs all over the place on spec, we've taken people on the basis of an unsolicited CV when its arrived in the right place at the right time, and most people will keep them on file.
Good luck - hope you get sorted soon.

Re: employment ???
Hi Kev
the internet is the best place, sites like trovit even GUMTREEetc will come up with a wealth of suitable positions from time to time. this time of year is usually quiet but things usually pic up in the new year (touch wood) all things concidered!
Get our cv posted with the online agencies too there are a number of them that may come up trumps with offers relating to your experince but may not be in the framing market
Inproving your qualification may also help C&G do a cource in gilding and conservation in London which could open up working the a museum environment if ou need any links give us a nudge . I cant post an at the mo but will do anything I can to help
If all else fails john jones seem to always be looking for people (not sure if thats a good sign)

MMM..... remembers stories told to me by Lionel Bart over lunch about Alec Guinness.
Maybe the dark side and sneaking up on a Jedi are euphemisms
