Foamcore as undermount

Post by absolute framing »

Hi all,

I have been thinking about using Foamcore as a combined undermount and backing board and conservation board for the top mount.
For all jobs i always use conservation board for the top and undermount, this is my standard working method for all mounts.
But for some open-ended prints, low value items i was considering changing, more to keep the cost down for my customer, than a short-cut.
does anyone know if the lining paper on foamcore is a suitable material to do such a thing. Would you class this type of job as Budget or does it have any conservation merit ??

Regards,

Stephen

My default for some time has been 3 or 5mm artcare foamboard as a combined undermount/backing. Also 5mm artcare restore is my default dry mounting board.

Both sides are artcare paper - OK it's only 1mm thick, but then you have the foam core, which is more archival than normal brown backing boards, then another 1mm of artcare.

If it's a full conservation job I'll use an (artcare 4 ply) undermount as well as the artcare foamboard.

The board costs less than a 'normal' conservation undermount and backing combined and is twice a s quick to cut - one board instead of two.

Yeah, but the forum clock is fast - time now is 2322, what time does it say I posted.

There you go, who said tomorrow never comes.

Anyway, I've only been home for an hour - still unwinding.

Our choir's first Christmas concert (Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir) in Worthing - went really well, bar being upstaged by an excellent girls' choir.

It looks like some folks forgot to put their clocks back.

If you reside in the British Isles.
Go into your profile and change Timezone to GMT

In the Spring, when the clocks go forward, change it to GMT+1

Ooops!

Silly me - assumed the forum clock would be set to GMT and only non GMTers would need to adjust.

Done now!

Dont feel too bad Robo, I thought the same thing.

I have to reset the forum clock at each time change, but there is no way to link a member's Timezone to that of the forum. You would think it an obvious option, but apparently not. :?
