Coolest Usernames

Post by Roboframer »

I like 'Evans The Frame' because that's the way people in small Welsh communties with many similar surnames do it - hear about the Welsh steeplejack? 'Evans above' :D

Uncle Sumo - funny

Custard - nice

Moglet - like the spin-offs, like 'The Mogster'

But my favourite has to be 'Johnny2morsos' because of the abbreviation 'J2M' - which is how he was referred to, by lots of people at the Forum Social and if no-one already has, I think he should get that abbreviation copywrited - great name for a company, or a drink, a website/whatever.

What's your fave username?

Thanks John.

I deliberated over the name for some time and I have Terry Wogan to thank for my inspiration as at the time he was often referring to John Prescott (now Lord Prescott) as Jonny 2 Jags due to his ownwership of a Jaguar car in addition the to ministerial Jaguar supplied to him.

(In the Thatcher government only the prime minister had a Jag. all the ministers had more mundane cars).

It came about because I bought a 2nd hand Morso from a couple who were retiring and selling off their equipment at good prices. I thought that will do me as a spare in case of breakdowns but of course Morsos never breakdown so it has sat in a corner collecting dust for 3 years 2 months and 20 days. But now I can't sell it can I !! Jonny1morso doesnot have the same ring to it.

"2 Morsos" predates "2 jags" as this Monty Python sketch from 1970ish shows

I’ve a Christian friend who calls me 'Serial Atheist', perhaps I should use that as a user name.
By the way she is referred to as' Predatory Preacher', best of friend really, just differing views.

Teach me !
Why does nearly everyone have a USERNAME :?:
Its the same on the Grumble :)
I must say it takes so much longer to get to know a person from an obscure user name.
And the avatar ( the photo) doesn't help much.

I feel as though I know the very frequent posters like Robo, Prospero, Moglet, J2M, because their personality come across in their posts.
But have to admit most of the others are a "haze"

People like Martin Harrold, Steve Goodall, Jared Davis, + Dermot all use their real names, and sometimes a pic. so are instantly known.

So please explain why all this hiding behind a user name? There must be a reason, :?:

It's just the way that a lot of internet forums are, they've evolved a bit like CB radio where everyone had 'handles' - it's no big deal, Fred Smith could register as Fred Smith and his avatar could be a photo of himself, but it's a tiny photo and you'd not recognise him if you bumped in to him the day after his first post, or his 100th. I only recognised you (Keith) at WCAF because John Raines told me you were there so I went looking closely at registration badges of pasty faced people :D

Fred Smith may as well have called himself Norewgian Blue and had a photo of a parrot as his avatar.

If he sticks around and you get to 'know' him; one day you may actually meet him and by then will probably know his real name anyway, from a website, from his signature, his profile, from PMs, whatever.

I served in a Welsh Infantry regiment; there were so many with the same surname - Jones, Williams, Price, Edwards, Hughes, Thomas, Reece, Morgan etc, that they were known by their last two numbers. I can still pretty much go from 00-99 and put a face to each two numbers; there were so many Joneses that 3 of them had the same last two numbers and had to be known by their last 3 .... it was mostly no use knowing their first names as most would be 'Dai'!! There were many different surnames that had the last 2 numbers, so there would be a Jones 56, a Davies 56, a Morgan 56, etc etc.

I never knew the names, first or second, of some guys that I knew by numbers. One guy that was known as 'legs' - I thought was nicknamed such because he was a tall lanky git, but that was just coincidence, he was Jones 11, and it took me about 15 years to find that out!

"Bevel Woman" is a cracker!

I don't have the creativity to make up good names. I'm 'Osgood' on TFG, and that has been my nickname for 40 or more years. 'Nigel Nobody' here, because I heard it somewhere and liked it, and had forgotten my previous password so opted for a new name.

I have been called many unsavoury things in the past and will answer to almost anything, if chocolate is involved.

Hello again,

Is it possible to change a user name? I`m Tabby Ann @ Home, because my names Ann and I worked for Tabmaster UK.

However I no longer work for Tabmaster, so should I change my user name or keep it as most of you know me? :D

I would like to know if I can change mine to Bevel Woman now.
I don't whether I'd describe myself as a 'cracker' though that's for others to decide, although I am a natural blonde

I was referring to the name, 'bevel woman' as being a cracker. From Mikey's comment, I'm not sure that the word 'cracker' has the same meaning up there as it has down here? I just don't know!

Of course I'm good -in every sense of the word. So good I've far too busy framing etc to come on the forum in the last few days.
Thank goodness for a 2 day break - I need it.

Can anyone answer the question about changing usernames please??
