Glass seems to be designated a controlled waste these days so long gone the days when you could nip off to the tip and sling it in a skip. Most glass suppliers offer a service for collecting cullage (off-cuts) which is very reasonable. They provide a plastic box and when you re-order glass they collect it

We are very fortunate down here in SW Cornwall.
We have a Glass Cullet collectors. They charge £1.00 per week rental of a wheelie bin and only £3.00 to empty it.

Even more fortunate here in Derby. Normal bin men take it with normal collection - I cut it small, put it in a sturdy cardboard box, tape it up, and mark it 'GLASS'.

I was concerned when they said it was fine, but it is listed on my waste transfer note. Total bill for all waste removal is £76 a quarter.

Isn't it strange how things can vary so much from one place to another?
