SIMONS 000S/0002
I had an issue with this molding,19mm wide x 30mm deep, I use it a lot and Simons could never quite get the quality as good as A & T or Arquadia, Bob my rep called me yesterday, to say It's changed,I was just placing an order so I ordered a length to check it out, It arrived today and is now as good as A & t, well done simons, I've just ordered 300 ft,

I use a lot of this too and like you have not used the Simons version in the past as it was not quite as good so bought it from Arqadia although as you say it is available from A & T plus I have also got it from Frinton.
May give it a go with Simons next time.

Arqadia 307453167 Page 142 in the brochure.
Frinton MO3570 but I think much more expensive from Frinton.

Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
I placed my order yesterday afternoon, and it arrived this morning ( normal delivery, very impressed ) 300 ft very good quality, and a good price ! inside not painted black like the old stuff, which always led to bits of black getting under the glass , thank you Simons for getting it right at last, I've been nagging Bob for years,

Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
Thanks for that J2M - so, a common or garden flat deep-rebated black - plenty of it about, with grained or coated finishes, quality and price varying greatly from supplier to supplier, but it's nice when Simons match the quality of the others because they'll always be cheaper.Jonny2morsos wrote:Arqadia 307453167 Page 142 in the brochure.
E.g. Arqadia have the 'confetti' range from Larson Juhl - brightly coloured (from black through to white) 'cube' mouldings in two profiles. They're a PIG on the morso - thick, brittle coatings. Enter Simons 'Festival' range, same range of colours, give or take; slightly different profiles but far better quality - both in wood and coatings; for less money, not a huge amount less on paper but the reduced grief makes it far more profitable.

Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
Ditto your comments on Simons Festival range vs. Arqadia Confetti.
Have you seen the new silver version (FEST/013)? and the last time the rep called she had some wider versions sent as samples which got me thinking about stacking wide and narrow in colour combinations for stuff like football memorablia where the colours could fit with team colours.
Having looked at this post I meant to go into the shop and remove the Confetti chevrons and guess what! next customer came in and they chose a Confetti moulding which did not have a colour equivalent in the Festival range.

Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
I haven't seen the silver one, but I've already got the wider profiles on the wall, trouble is that they came as 12" lengths - I always ask for two of each so's I can make a decent-sized corner sample, but this time I only got one of each and decided to just say 'sod it' and make them in to smaller corners.
Off I went on auto-pilot ...... and cut right through all the moulding references!

I thought it was only me who did that! Someone needs to tell Simons not to write the moulding reference in the middle of the sample where you cut it in half to make up the chevron. Once they have done that they need to tell Arqadia not to put it on the very end where you trim the square end to a mitre on the Morso and lose half of the label they have so thoughtfully applied!
Once that's done then let 'em all know we need a 15" sample to make up a sensible sized chevron which will actually cost them less than sending two 12" samples

Ditto to Arqadia except their carriers seem to think the straps are to get their size 12 feet into! I've got photos to prove it and sent them to Arq.Teresa wrote:DITO ! Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
The last time I had 300ft of 000S/0002 I had to send 120ft of it back as it was badly warped (and the same with 0ASH/0015, barewood ash version). I told Bob I would throw it at him but was worried that it would come back to me like a boomerang.
As for Festival, it is smaller than Confetti for about the same price, so I continue to stock Confetti and only order it on chop service, which gets around the crumbling, and is still cheap. I sell loads of it in both sizes.

Re: SIMONS 000S/0002
Congratulations - Simons get there in the end! They've been like that for the 20 odd years that I was in the trade but I couldn't have done without them and wouldn't want to have done. Is that Bob Jones you refer to. He's a 'diamond'.
