Clear acrylic mount

Hi all,

I've been asked by a customer to frame some photos, and they'd like to be able to see the wall thru the mount. My solution is to do an inner frame, and screw that from the back, to a piece of acrylic. Photo attached so you can see what I'm doing (sorry technology has beaten me and I don't seem to be able to show more than one side of the image, and it seems to be HUUUUUGE, but hopefully you get the idea).

At the moment I'm fixing the backing acrylic into the frame with tabs and tab gun, but it's a bit fiddly (they stick out too far and I'm bending them to make them less visible from the front) but I'm sure there's probably a better way of doing it - glue gun perhaps, or just small tacks & hammer? If anyone has any ideas I'd be most grateful.

Ha ha yes thanks - I had considered that, and also bet they won't tell. I suspect that's where the inspiration came from.

Hi Lynda

These Fletcher push-points are good for the job, you can push them into softer wood mouldings with a screwdriver, and shouldn't be visible from the front of the frame.

If you've got the black fletcher gun the magazine can be reversed to take glaziers points, which are much shorter.

That looks fabulous.... Can you tell me if you have used two sheets of acrylic (one front and then one for backing). A run down of your process would be very helpful.
