I wish some suppliers had a database of their mouldings which was searchable and up to date on their website.

I wonder who that could be

The mainline website is neat. I often send links to commercial clients of mouldings on manufacturers websites.

Well Done mainline.

Excellent. Went to visit Mainline a while back with our FATG group and they did a very good presentation of their website and I left with the impression they are putting a lot of resources into it and see this as the way forward for their business.

I often attach images of mouldings to emails sent to clients as well.

It’s a nice feature but what most suppliers could do with concentrating on is the ability to allow us search against the various attributes of a molding; say I want a wood, brushed gold, 25-30mm wide with a 12mm or deeper rebate and no scooped back. At the moment I have to browse through dozens of apparently randomly arranged mouldings in the hope of finding something suitable.

I have written a simple database myself to do this with my stock mouldings but when a customer says about amoulding 'I like this but is it available a little narrower’ It is hard to track down a moulding in a reasonable amount of time.

another option would be to use the profile type drawings, then only have to look at finishes in that profile

The ability to search would also be a good idea and not just look at an out of date pdf of the catalogue. :giggle: :giggle:

As I said a lot of my work involves suggesting mouldings to clients and emailing them a link. If there is no link i can send and I have to scan an image out of a catalogue then those mouldings don't get put forward as often and they don't get the business.

Thank you for your comments on our new web feature. We recently added rebate depth to the moulding info following a comment on here. We will have full dimensions and more in the near future.

Frame On - I'm a big fan of my iPad and iPhone so it's a bit of pain not having the spins working due to the lack of Flash on these devices. We have alternate HTML5 files for each item available. They would work on the iPad but the files are basically 60 images on one page so they would take a long time to load with the majority of connection speeds in the UK at the moment, they also take up huge amounts of storage and bandwidth. There is another version of Flash under development so we should have a solution soon.
Bit of techy/stat stuff: Visitors to our site using iPad and iPhone during the past 6 months accounted for 2.7% of all visitors and most of them were probably me!

GeoSpectrum - I agree we need a better search system. We have worked out how we would like it to work and I'm confident our web guys can deliver it and probably more. The issue for us is time, it will take a lot of person hours to input the data for each item to allow cross-checks etc. I would appreciate anyones feedback on what search terms you would find essential plus any wishlist terms.
