gold mountboard
I have to make a small brass mount for a movie, I was thinking I could get away with gold card, is there a good way of making the bevelled edges look gold, can anyone recommend the best 'metallic looking' gold mountboard? Thanks it has to be at Ealing Studios for Monday !
Re: gold mountboard
Arqadia do a couple of very shiney golds - as for the bevel, why not cheat and reverse it

Paint the bevel of a gold mount card with a suitable paint- Best way is to lay 3M on the face of the mount where the bevel will be, when you cut the mount a you have the masking in place

A can of gold spray paint can give good results. Very easy if it is small. Then you can use any colour mountboard

The Liquid Gold that Lion sell is useful. Won't help you if you don't have any to hand but I always keep a few small jars in different colours around for when the occasion arises.

Bugger painting the cut gold, sell them a gold fillet.
Re: gold mountboard
The very shiny gold mountboard looks a bit too blingy on a big area. Best used for undermounts where only a small strip is revealed.
If you do find a slightly better-looking one and have to fart about gilding the bevel, better to start with blank card and gild the whole thing.
The way of doing this depends on just how you want it to look.

I used 2mm brass in the end, a couple of hours to cut it out, but it is in keeping with the project (1850s Daguerreotype)
