Epson 3880/canvas

Post by guzzijim »

Anyone here use a Epson 3880 to print on A2 canvas? for the life of me cannot get rear feed to take it, resorted to front feed and after many attempts managed to get it to work, any advise welcome.

i think permajet do a system for doing it

its like a tacky board thing that you lay the canvas on to give it stiffness
BUT

i would just not bother, it aint worth the grief

at a push you wonna be able to do 16/18 by 12 ish canvas wraps which are just to small generally

Thanks stcstc, just managed to do a couple. This is sort of a test run, have written an Icc profile for Pinnicle Canvas and really pleased with result.

I know our local Permajet rep. so will have a word about the sticky board idea.

I was thinking about trying to stiffen up the leading edge, maybe a combination of doublesided tape and strip of heavy fine art paper, could allow for extended length by making a custom size paper setting.

Next move will be to buy a larger secondhand printer, just have to find room for it! plans are afoot to extend workshop buy 3meters.

The Epson video makes it look easy !!

There are usually plenty of cheap 7800 /7880 on eBay.
Ideal for a start into giclee fine art paper or canvas printing.
The larger 96/98/9880 is also advertised regularly.
All good workhorses , and a 2nd hand one is always easy enough to move on again without losing much on what you paid.
A better bet than fiddling with temperamental paper curling on the 3880
