Framing Laminated Posters

Post by Bagel Framer »

Hi all,

I've been approached by a company to frame 7 off laminated posters.

As they're laminated we won't need any glass/perspex in theory but my question is how should one secure the print to the backing board?
Reading through "Pure Agony", Pete refers to diluted PVA glue and a press at 65 degrees. Unfortunately I don't have the budget or space for a press so will be looking for an alternative way of doing such - if it should be secured.

I'm also trying to move off MDF - would normal Foamcore (such as that supplied by Lion) suffice for this application?

Thanks,

Sean

I think you'll find more info than you'll neeed HERE

Avoiding MDF for anything is a good move but depending on the size of the posters foamcore may have to be the 10mm variety or adhered to something more substantial.

I'm sure it will be mentioned in the link above, but roughen the back with fine sandpaper before mounting - to give the paper a 'tooth'

Good luck!

I recently asked a similar question on TFG - I wondered why it did not show in the link above - it's because I spelled 'laminated' wrong.

Well - a typo!

So HERE Is another link!!

Thanks John - Grumble looks to have the answers we need.

When using foamboard, is it standard practice to have a backing board too - if so, what should one use?

I, like others here, aren't a professional framer but a part time one so sorry for all the questions..!
