Re: Vacuum cmc boards
It is a valiani, the ones that came with it are rubbish.
Re: Vacuum cmc boards
I use a standard mountboard on mine - it sucks through those with no problem - But I agree the recommended board is fairly crap. Ideally we need a material that is porous yet resists cutting - a kevlar slip sheet?

Cheers Mark , any particular brand or just any cheap stuff?
Re: Vacuum cmc boards
I ask my local supplier for any marked boards - tape two standard size boards together having trimmed them down a touch on the long side - I always use 2 layers when not in vacuum mode - better safe than sorry. Do love the vacuum function - so little wastage.

Re: Vacuum cmc boards
We have a Trucut and they recommend woodpulp board. Arqadia do this but you have to buy in packs of 50. Their reference 999 102 000. It works well except on black which curls up due to heat so that needs a bit of masking tape on the corners.

Tawnycraft in Northampton sell Woodpulp in single sheet. If they don't deliver in your area yet I wouldn't mind betting they soon will do since another supplier covering that area has ceased trading.

Fantastic , Tawny craft are one of my supplier , will .ask Carl today . I will try each suggestion and report back .
Re: Vacuum cmc boards
I think you will find that woodpulp board is the one that comes with the Valiani. It does the job but I always think its a little thin as a defence against the bed being accidentally damaged.
Re: Vacuum cmc boards
i think the gunnar machines use some furry type material, its not a solid board

Re: Vacuum cmc boards
After just over a year of experiments, I think we have found the best material, 1450 micron grey board, very cheap, vacuum works very well through it, lasts ages and it's quite a rough surface so even without the vacuum it's pretty non slip.
so far no down side to report.

The 1450 micron grey board sounds good, who supplies it?
