Frame Code - guess the supplier!

Post by Hayend »

Just wondering if anyone can help -

Had a customer in wanting a particular frame, he has given me a code and asked me to find it (I did try and persuade him to use something similar that I stock!).

B1040(27)

Does anyone know who the supplier of this may be?!

Thanks in advance for any answers.

I thought it looked like a Simons type number, but can't spot it in the cat.
Arqadia numbers tend to be 000 000 000 format.

Do you know where he got the number? Could it be another framers personal reference? And how long since he last bought some? :o

it might at a long shot have been a Byron Mouldings Reference, although they usually start with BY,

any chance of a description of the particular moulding?

Not in last Byron cat I have. :(

Wessex Pictures have B1040 listed. 1/2" gold.

 Prospero, thank you so much that is exactly the one I am searching for according to the customers description!!

Thanks to all of you who looked - My customers are mainly military (which is great as they love their Regimental photos etc!) which tends to either mean they like me to decide what looks good as claim to have not a clue as they "don't do the colour choosing thing", or are extremely exacting and hard to please.

What a great thing this forum is!

Yep, always hang onto old books....

I use Wessex from time to time and their mouldings go alphabetically, ie. A to WF I think normally followed by the number code, so they're a good place to start if you get any more enquiries.

I had an enquiry from a chap last week quoting me "259498246", which it turns out is a generic moulding. I thought he'd seen some mouldings on my website and they'd truncated or something.

He's supposed to be sending me an offcut so I can match it, but that was 10 days ago..!

Hi Bagel Framer,

I would check it's not his Army number first!
