We had a customer in this morning with loads of Everton memorabilia and most is straight forward to display. However she has a pile of match tickets that she wants displayed in a fan shape and also about 20 signature sheets of the teams going back years. She doesn't want to see all of the sheets but just one and then the remainder fanned out underneath. Since these maybe quite valuable, we don't want to use any form of fixing to the sheets and so thought about melinex. However if these were encapsulated in melinex, how could we ensure they all kept in a fan shape. Sorry no pictures, but could get some for Monday though

A melinex 'wrap mount' might work, depending on how thick the tickets are/paper is - it's not easy to describe without photos/diagrams but you might get the general idea from page 13 here http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... NzgXL4Qn0Q
I'd probably stiffen each ticket/sheet with 1 ply conservation board and wrap individaully with melinex, that way you could stick 'em down with pretty much anything you like.
But that would be after suggesting that copies are made, which could be stuck down with pretty much anything you like. I'd be concerned that in time the front ticket/sheet would fade, plus the exposed edges of the rest behind it, so when and if the time came to reverse the process to sell to a collector .... whatever, the set would look a bit crap.

I agree fully with the 2nd part of johns post we often make copies of tickets, programs etc, and hide the originals within the frame.

Re: displaying A5 signature sheets
Thanks John. That's a good point about the fading of the top signature sheet and the edges of the remainder, and of course there is little point in just having a sheaf of edges which are potentially valuable. Some must be since they go back to 1962 and there are one or two famous names I recognise. Hiding the originals within the frame is also a pretty good idea too as that was part of the objective (storage) for the customer.

If you do go down the copy and hide the original route, it may be an idea to put a little note on the back of the frame, just to say the originals are inside, people forget what they have done with them.

Thanks IFGL, that's a very good point. I would never think of looking in a frame for something, and in years to come it could be sold or given away and no-one knows the true value behind the mount>
