I renewed my membership with the FATG this week and found out that I can get a discount for a Credit Card reader through a company called First Data . Does anyone take advantage of this through the Guild and if so, would you recommend First Data ?
One of the card readers runs using a Sim card, popular with Taxi drivers, market traders etc., this sounds like a good idea, does anyone use a reader with a Sim card ( as opposed to fixed/wired option)

Adam/Bagpuss

Re: Credit card transactions through First Data
When I spoke to them the price they would give me was it. no discount for being a member for The Fine Art Trade Guild.
Same for yellow pages, no extra discount for members.
Both times the sales people were trying making out there already giving me a deal.
I liked the sim card machine because I don't have a fixed line. But too pricey for the little use.

Re: Credit card transactions through First Data
I would shop around a bit and then compare the deal. Remember any other add ons like charges for PCI Compliance.
I am with First Data via FATG but would not be surprised if I could better the deal elswhere.
Sometimes I am wary of changing suppliers. Got caught out with the electricity supplier I changed to who deducted £2200 too much in one month! by direct debit. It took me five months to get it all back in my account.

Re: Credit card transactions through First Data
The best deal I found on a sim card machine was £25 per month, rates are very low though 1.2% on credit cards
