cassese cs299 underpinner
I was thinking of buying a cassese cs299 NEW underpinner. Awful variations in quotes. Any suggestions???
Re: cassese cs299 underpinner
just replaced my 299(old model) with a 199. I was going to go with 299 but decided the extra bits actually weren't worth having - adjustable fence angle and head that sinks into the bed. I almost never used the adjustable fence on my previous machine - and could cope with sliding the moulding over the head easily enough. Other than that the machine is the same. Very pleased with new machine and now no longer crush my fingers whilst making sure the joint is all nice and smooth ( always just run my hand over joint just to see if the edges are nice and flush - always find you can feel the joint better than you can see it).
As for price - I would rather go to a supplier who I know will give me good aftercare rather than just on the best deal.

I've always found UK Framing Supplies have offered the best overall package and have always provided excellent service.
Ask for Sean, tell him Rob from Zanart recommended him, and hopefully he will buy me a few beers!

something like your underpinner i would buy locally, you need the support of the local company
there are 3 or 4 suppliers in ireland who could supply
i have a 199xl i bought 2 years ago or so and bought through AMD, not the cheapest purchase price, but slightest thing goes wrong and donal is over to sort it for me

I've had the 299xml now for about 3 years, I asked three suppliers for quotes. One never came back to me, then I went with the cheapest as neither was local to me. I've had one issue with it, and that was resolved with advice of this forum. I too never use the adjustable fences. I'm a big fan and would probably buy another one.

Both items are as new, being only six months old The underpinner has the full set of top pressors.

Hello,
Yes, Graysalchemy, property is considerably cheaper here, than on mainland U.K.
Other commodities are more expensive, as you might expect on an Island some 40 miles from the Mainland.
The reason for my move is personal and not to do with trade or business.
Having said that, one must bear in mind that the population of the entire Outer Hebridean chain of islands, is under 25,000.
There are a lot of practising artists here and I am sure that a skilful framer, could make a living, given a good location.

I used to live in Kishorn 20 yrs ago and i was surprised to see that they now have a gallery and framer in the village, and i do believe it is up for sale .
I would love to live there again but not as a framer.
