A company I have used for years for large format printing have moved out of town to an industrial estate.
Phoned them today to place an order but now they say that they have a minimum spend of £50 as they deliver & clients cannot collect as "clients are not allowed into the building" at their new premises.
A new way of growing your business or an easy road to early retirement?
Customer retention obviously not a priority.
Business Model?

Re: Business Model?
Sounds like Her Majesty's Prison. Which would explain why they deliver.
I don't think that business model works in a modern society.

Re: Business Model?
They won't last long with policies like that
Re: Business Model?
i know companies that work like that
they are very very successful. as they have big contracts in place
and those kind of polices are to stop small orders and people turning up, as the time taken to deal with people turning up is money especially if they have moved to a courier/delivery model

Could be that they can not get planning consent from the local authority for change of use and or insurance for the public liability, ties in with the Minimum Order value thread re customers and time wasting

thats my pointKwik Picture Framing wrote:From that view point, I agree, But customer is a customer
you dont have to win every bit of business that comes your way to be successful
pick and choose the best bits carefull, create a niche market for yourself and it will be way more sucessful than trying to do everything that comes in the door
i specialise in stuff for photographers, so certain kinds of art that come in the door, not much, i will send to another framer if its not my thing, customer is happy cos they know they are getting good advice and a deal, and i dont waste time on stuff i aint any good at
