i noticed a funny smell emanating from our compressor today, after we had joined about 300 frames in the past two days for ready mades. (most of them this morning
that funny smell was it running out of oil, and we are now out of bambi compressor oil, but the good news is i can cook my lunch on top of my compressor, its scorching
i'm thinking of naming it the lean mean fat reducing compressor machine
all work has halted until i can get my grubby little paws on compressor oil.

I've only had a Bambi for a short time, but have learned a couple of important tips - Don't leave it in the sunshine, and don't leave the electric on if you've left the drain open.
The heat of the sun caused the emergency stop to pop up, starting it up again...... because the drain was open, it ran continually for hours - I could have cooked steaks on it when I discovered it. Needless to say, the plug is disconnected when not in use now.

in an emergency situation i've got my father running across Edinburgh to get some "suitable for all" compressor oil, i know its not the proper bambi oil,
if we weren't on a tight deadline to make up these frames so we can get on with the custom framing work, it wouldn't be an issue and we would wait for the bambi oil from Lion or Ashworth and Thompson, but as it is there are 50 or 60 unjoined frames piled up, and we can't move in the workshop
at least our discontinued bays are being drastically reduced.

two muppets that used to work for me actually siezed up a bambi twin compressor
apparently they are supposed to run on a 50 percent on- 50 percent off cycle (to cool off) not continuous running. Since then we have added a second to lighten the overall load in the workshop.
if one motor goes, (or siezes) simply disconnect it and it will work fine on the remaining motor.
I find on both the bambis that one motor out of each pair will use more oil than the other on the same compressor, too. And in humid weather they will produce vast amounts of condensate.
