Creative Suggestions
One of my clients dropped in a limited edition image on watercolour art paper to get framed, the artist work is superb. Trouble is she has left me to frame it how I would like without any direction. She did link me to the artist Facebook page where other clients who have recently purchased the same image have posted their famed image, seems its a bit of a competition amongst lucky owners. So the expectation is she can post her result to general acclamation on the page.

I was going to go with a cool white matt with a cracked gold frame but am no longer sure, would appreciate any suggestions.

Re: Creative Suggestions
I should also add the image is 20x27 inches with a 2 inch white border with signature and embossed logo in the bottom right corner

Re: Creative Suggestions
The one framed in all black gets my vote, far better than the more traditional attempts

Re: Creative Suggestions
I would get your client back in and pin her down on how she wants it framed , as the examples are all very different, if you go ahead and she does not like it , not only have you wasted a lot of materials but your time
I always get the customer's OK on anything we frame, I would rather spend an hour with them on the design, it's quicker in the long run and much less hassle

Re: Creative Suggestions
I like the black version - the image is quite dark, so it looks good as it goes dark to light to dark, and it creates contrast & draws the eye right onto the image.

Re: Creative Suggestions
This is a great image. When I get a signed/numbered print in I always ask if they want the signature showing or not. If they do it usually means a white border from the print showing and I think this works best with a light mount. But if they don’t mind if the signature is covered by the mount then, if the image suits, you can go for any colour dark or light. I think this image really suits a dark mount (but not black) and you should go right up to the image and cover the signature.
I don’t have any frame visualisation stuff so messed about in photoshop and picked some colours from her dress.
It always comes down to personal preference in the end and the customer has the final say..... or in this case you do! Good luck and let us see the finished job.

Re: Creative Suggestions
Whatever you choose I would use a deep bevel mount plenty of space around the sides and a drop on the bottom, and I would perhaps go trad/shabby chic on it instead of contemporary clean lines.

Re: Creative Suggestions
I agree with mounting over sigs/numbers/titles. It often creates problems with proportions and generally interferes with the ideal design. The sigs will still be there and you can write the number on the back if need be. Having them visible serves no useful propose in most cases. This print for one.
How about a dark suede mount - maybe red - not too wide with an ornate fillet. Beneath this an ivory colour to form a border. Maybe 3/4". And an ornate frame similar to the examples shown. Maybe bigger.

Re: Creative Suggestions
IFGL - slightly off topic but I am really impressed with the images you produce with your visualisation software. If you don't mind, what system do you use?
Many thanks

Re: Creative Suggestions
Thanks for all the imput
I have discussed options further with the client, she had a look at the suggestions posted above. She likes the idea of a black classically styled moulding with a dark matt. Not sure if our numbering system in Australia is the same as in the UK but thinking of going with Megawood Larson Juhl code CS9165 Black moulding.
