Logo on the car, FINALLY !!!

Post by Bagpuss »

I can't believe it's taken me quite so long but I finally pulled my finger out, got in touch with a local car graphics company and today picked up my little Toyota with my logo on it, it's not perfect but it's a great first attempt  It's all vinyl cut and I was amazed at the detail on the logo, I didn't think it would come out. I was thinking about getting the GCF logo on there but perhaps less is more, it's a funny little car and now it's got my details on it I'm sure people will do a "double take", hopefully.

Looks good. I prefer the simplicity of the sides to the back.
What did you pay for it?

I know a framer in Singapore who also puts his details on the roof of his van. :o

Explaining.... many tall buildings and double decker buses from which people will see his ad.

Mention what you've done to your accountant next time you talk. I'm unsure of the rules, but ours bought it up a while ago.

Nice job. How about a blingy frame around the number plates? Can't touch ya for it. :giggle: In fact if you got some poly moulding you could bend it around the wheel arches and windows.

I'll get me coat...... :P

Had vinyl wraps/signs put on our car and it has certainly drawn attention. Had people coming to us after taking a photo of car rear when following us in traffic and handed out loads of cards when parking the car; many of which have resulted in sales.

Our accountant needed no persuading to offset the cost against advertising.

Good thinking. What is a car but a mobile advertising hoarding. Billboards in Piccadilly circus cost an absolute bomb to rent. So have a drive round central London and get ya money's worth.

Offset the whole cost of the car? Maybe I need to stick a business card in the window and get back on to my accountant.

Just by a van, completely offset and you can also carry finished frames in it. It also has the advantage of the wife not borrowing it and no room for the kids :D :D

We have a van - you're right it is great for carrying frames (it's a long wheelbase VW Transporter), but funnily enough it's in my name not his (so in our case it's the husband borrowing it) and I happily carry the kids in it as it has 6 seats :D

I bought this car 2 years ago and I thought then that my logo would look good on the wide flat doors, not too sure why I left it so long though, it's a funny looking little car and people always do a double take

Because of the low emissions of the car, my Accountant said it was 100 % deductible against the business but as of yet I haven't done so. I am no longer with an Accountant so was wondering if I can offset the price of the car against my 2013/2014 tax return ? I'm a Sole Trader and not VAT registered. I wouldn't offset the price I paid for it in 2012, just the depreciated value of it in 2013.
Has anyone had to do anything like this before ?
Any advice gratefully received,
Thanks, Adam

I would say get your self a good accountant it will save you in the long run. A good accountant is like a decent piece of kit in the workshop. I have seen to many friends and customers struggling to pay large tax bills because they didn't take the advice of a decent accountant.
