I visited the A'dam Art show at RAI.
And had a boat trip from Marken to Volendam and back.
And rented an electric boat from De Gouw at De Rijp - to explore Eilandspolder. Saw a lot of wild life.

Odems,

I have been fortunate to try some unusual food on my travels.
Sometimes it tastes much better if you dont know what its called!

You must have seen those "flat-bottom" ships too..... In the North you can go with a ship like this and make holidays with a group. We did this sailing between Harlingen en Terschelling. Eating mussels and flounders in the evening.....

We have barges, but they don't usually have sails!

In fact the ship from the image is an old one-sail-freighter. This ship can sails with an engine and with sails at wide waters. Most ships have more sails and some are three-master (as we name them)

Nice looking boat.

In addition to sails, it looks like it has a gigantic paddle on the side.

… or, is it a mosquito wing?

Hahaha... a paddle.... it looks like yes. But this is what they use for more stability whit hard side-winds. When I was aboard we did a race with another (same) ship and the angle was pretty. So this blade is also some flexible in horizontal direction and keeps the ship nice stable. Sometimes it hits the sand of the bottom.... Cups and all stuff goes from the table and all people have big fus. I shall have a look for my nicest photo during that sailing-trip.

I became an (amateur) video from the performance of Roger Waters in Cork and as far as I can see it's the same crew. That must have been very close to you Moglet. Did you visit that show?

Ooh! That's a very sore point with me, Odems. I actually had the tickets for Waters' Cork gig in my filthy little mitts, but unfortunately I was in two car crashes (in less than 22 hours) a few weeks before the gig, and I was too shellshocked to go anywhere afterwards. To add insult to injury, I also missed Roxy's Cork gig.

Music has meant a great deal to me all my life, especially material by the aforementioned artists; and I am absolutely gutted to have missed both shows. We only have the one life, and it doesn't have a rewind feature. Missing out on what would have been magical experiences for me is yet another thing for which an insurance payout will be no compensation whatsoever.

(Time for a Squonk moment....   )

Sorry Moglet. I think I understand some more now..... Keep looking for the sun every day, enjoy her warmth and grab some fun and lover where you can!:)

ps
Squonk was an old Genesis-song as you know....:)
