Just looked the Phoenix range has one with a depth of 86mm PHOE/0035

O.K., I've just been speaking to Alan Pooke at Simons and can give you the correct information. These new mouldings are additions to the Phoenix range and are as follows:

PHOE/0035 (Black) - matching slip = PHOE/0038

PHOE/0036 (Brown) - matching slip = PHOE/0039

PHOE/0037 (White) - matching slip = PHOE/0040

There are major framing companies already using these mouldings specifically for framing these ceramic poppies. Apparently the white moulding is currently waiting for more stock to arrive, I did not ask when the new stock is coming in.

I could be wrong, but based upon the colours of frames being offered, I would suspect that possibly one or two of these sites could be using the new additions to the Simons Phoenix range.

At the risk of upsetting you Grays.... here is an example of one that I framed a little while ago.. I tend to get lots of people who want the COA included in the frame so as they say... "Who am I to disagree". I use Arqadia Suedette mountboards to give a plush look to the finished piece.. Crimson as the top mount and the cove box is lined with Ebony.. I think it looks quite effective. and using Larson Jhul Clarity glass also enhances the finished item

a Little off topic but I also have framed 2 of these this month and the opposite situation..The recipients came in wanting their Queens Orders framing and after a little discussion, I convinced them that having a miniature medal in the frame with it would make it more of a talking point... certainly seems to be the case anyway as I have had other people sticking their head in the studio to say they had seen it and were impressed ........... thoughts ????

I don't disagree with you if that is what they want, but you would never put a certificate of authenticity in the frame with a limited edition print. They are not curios or objects but memorials to the great war, beautiful pieces of art with a very poignant message which needs no explanation. But hey thats just my personal opinion and if the customer doesn't share those sentiments then I am not going to lose a framing job over it, its not going to be in my living room.

I like colours you have used in the mounts and i do like the Queens Orders, it looks good with the medal ............

Dont get me started on the devaluation of the OBE/CBE/MBE stories.. I have my opinions on them that may not be shared by many...but... the medals I have gained through my military service have been awarded as a result of defending our great nation... and eating lots of pizza and drinking some really bizarre potions around the world.. In fairness too regarding the COA.. its not really a COA apart from the hologram on the card.. it is more of an explanation of the art by the artist and the story of 'Blood Swept lands & Seas of Red' IMHO I think it adds to the piece to give a little of the story behind the commemoration. I have done a few with a photograph of the exibition at the Tower of London too. I do agree with you though that it is a simple piece that really needs no explanation
