I just got around to trying the Newberry method today. The silks only had about 15mm border max and I needed about 5mm showing. This meant only a tiny amount to fold under the foamcore which didn't really give it a chance to grip. And the cutout in the foamcore was only about 3mm inside the mount window.
I had to resort to a putting tape tabs all the way around to hold them flat. Amazing how springy silk is. Not the ideal way to go, but they were cheapo touristy things so I won't loose too much sleep. A couple even had barcoded price stickers on the the back. Right over the painted area to boot.
With about another 12mm border it would have worked a treat with no taping.
That is impressive John. (well I'm impressed anyway ) And proves it works very well.
Did you find it difficult at any point in the process? Silk is very slippery, isn't it?
