We cut mounts for 50 cards on our Valiani CMC. First of all we do a practice on a scrap piece of mount board to get the aperture size just right as we have found some sets of cards to be slightly different sizes to others. Having tried the pre cut mounts we find this much more satisfactory.

Customers seem happy as they come back for more.

Another John and a Valiani as well.

I wasnt going to advertise on here, but will now.

Likewise we cut cigarette mounts and have recently won a good contract with a 'major player' who is an end product seller.

To see examples and cost visit my site at the link below.

As with others on this thread, we have cut many 50 aperture mounts on the manual Keencut. What a pain - literally -it is. Like some of you it magically goes wrong with the last few cuts. Hence the CMC. What a Godsend.

My last but three cigarette card job was a 30 or so aperture with fillips!!!

But it earned me a homemade Victoria sponge and a big wet kiss - wish he'd shaved though!

The Golden Rule for all us non-CMC types when cutting any multi-aperture mounts to pencil lines:

Always keep the dropout area under the cutter bar and all your bevels will go the right way. :D

The "Diamond" rule for cutting multitudes of openings:

Locate a CMC owner who will cut them for you for a fraction of the cost of your labour if you cut them by hand!

Put a nice big pencilled X in the middle of each dropout. If you see the X when cutting, you're doing it wrong.

I used to use a system of arrows round the box, following the direction of the cut. If I could see the arrow on the right of the line and it was pointing down, I was cutting right, Of course (boast, boast) I don't need to do that any more. My gal pal Val will do it all for me.
