Good grief, even the liability of being an American, these quizzes are way too obscure. I can’t even Google the quotes.

I graciously (well, maybe not so much) admit defeat.

Bill, can you give us a steer on the UK comedy series that have been screened in your neck of the woods? I'm sure that the Venerable Prospero and Moggers the Insolent can come up with a few teasers for you.

The transatlantic nature of our membership prompted me to try to come up with some quips from some of the top-notch US comedies (particularly the likes of Cheers, Frasier, and Taxi ), but the trouble is that the scriptwriting was so exceptionally rich and slick that trying to remember a single line here and there proved impossible: spoiled by the miasma of excellence! Shows of that calibre make even running gags much too clever to single out.

Well I already gave him and easy Cheers one, but came there the answer none.

We get mainly comedies from you guys. And, all of them are on Public TV – not commercial channels.

I’m not sure that I can remember them all, but the ones that keep popping their heads up are Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Keeping Up Appearances, Red Dwarf, Black Adder, and Vicar of Digby.

Some of the detective mysteries are on public TV, but I seldom watch them. The dialog and some of the references to local events eludes me.

We also get As Time Goes By, but I don’t get that one at all. Is it supposed to be funny? If so, it goes right over my head.

Thing is, I don't tend to remember most comedy scripts in the way that I do song lyrics (no musical accompaniment...).
