Adam you could try sticking the board together before you cut them, just mark-out where the windows will be,just some quick pencil marks, maybe make the marking so that the windows will be around 10-15 mm bigger, so you will have a guide where to put you tape & glue. You don't need much glue or tape, once done you will not need to realign, that how I used to do it when I used a mat-pro, in fact I still do even with my cmc.
Hope this helps

Re: Sticking together a multi-aperture double mount
I appreciate the swift response Steve, this really is a frustrating one for me, I have tried mapping out as you described but one slip of the ruler and you have glue / tape where you don't want it.
Have done that many a time..
I'm thinking about getting a CMC in the new year, the manufacturers all promote just how quickly they can cut a multi-aperture double mount but what we tend to forget is the setup time associated with gluing the mounts together, once I've found a tried and tested short cut I'll be happy, at the moment it's very hit and miss for me.
thanks,
Adam/Bagpuss

I stick them together first too and always did on a manual cutter.
You don't need much tape, just a few dabs and it doesn't have to be high tack, and then more glue, the tape is just to stop things moving while the glue dries.

Adam, I think you are trying to get the tape and glue too close to the window openings, you don't have to, it's just to hold the mounts together, this is one part of the job you don't have to be a perfectionist. Say your oter boarder is 60mm cut a strip of card 45-50mm wide, with your top mount face down on the bench, place this card on it lining up the edges, run your pencil down the inner edge, do this all the way around the mount, now run some atg tape between this line and the outer edge of the mount plus some glue, now stick your bottom mount to the top mount, job done. Stick with it Adam ( no pun intended
) you soon will get the hang of it, and it will become second nature, by the way keep the card strip, write on it and use it for the next one.

Re: Sticking together a multi-aperture double mount
Ijust cut them as two seperate mounts and stick with copy dex. I am usually using mounts with differing thicknesses which involves a blade change anyway. I also find that while a sheet is on the cmc I can be sticking mounts together in th efew minutes it takes to cut a sheet of mounts.
