It's a lip-synch, the audio is from an actual call.

I get regular phone calls from Dave at titan telecom. He rings probably once or twice a week now. It was annoying at first but now i just wind him up a bit and ask him what the weathers like in Mumbai and how his wife is etc. Its only me that works here but if they ask to talk to a certain department then i'll ask them to hang on for a moment, put the phone down, scratch my head, pick the phone back up and tell them that the person from that department is busy on the phone at the moment.

Had a call yesterday afternoon. Guy wanted to know how old my kitchen was. Now to me, a kitchen is a room where you prepare food. So I told him it was the same age as the rest of the house.

Gesso&Bole wrote: I am signed up for the TPS which works fine if it is a real person calling you - you ask them who they are so you can tell the TPS - haven't been bothered by this type of call recently.

But what about the recorded message calls - we are getting a couple each day, about my credit cards, or compensation for injury etc. There is no person to talk to?
I've been very dissapointed with the TPS, we've been with them for some time, I rang them recently to double check and I think the recorded message said they can't protect against computerised systems making the calls ....

Having read all your comments, I won't feel quite so bad next time I give the cold caller the "hairdryer" treatment :giggle:

I don't want to tempt anything, but we get very very few of these types of calls anymore, and that's on two business lines/numbers.

When we do we recognise them in an instant and just cut the crap - butt in with something like 'what are you selling'? - they'll carry on with the BS without answering the question - so, seeing as they can't give a straight answer like 'advertising space' - we just hang up, they're used to it, won't need any counselling or anything.

We used to be plagued with these calls though, both before and after registering with TPS, and we went through a phase of having a bit of fun, but got bored/too busy.

I was useless really, couldn't keep serious, but my wife was great - one week she decided that no matter what it was, they were trying to sell her a dog and would end up screaming, sometimes in a foreign accent "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU - I DON'T WANT ANY MORE DOGS"!!

If I ever get a call like that I tell them it was brand new last week and had they called me a while ago I would have given them the order. Then I ask the if they would be kind enough to put me in the diary for a call in 10 years time when it might be due for replacement.

At the camera club last week there was a guy handing out a new advertising mag. he was obviously something to do with. As a local business owner he homed in on me and the next day a girl form his office called:

"I understand you were talking to ******** last night"

"Yes, he was trying to flog me advertising I don't want"

The conversation didn't last long. Really gets on my t**s when people use social events to try and sell you stuff.

Have to say the TPS has made a big difference to us and we don't get many nuisance calls but when we do I have no qualms about telling them where to shove it. They made the call so its up to them to take the abuse from folk like us who have far better things to do.

Actually, I started 'doing up' my kitchen soon after I moved in. That was 17 years ago. Nearly finished. :P

I often wonder how many of these telemarketers are in operation. And just how many man-hours are lost answering these calls. Seems that there are two kinds of employment nowadays. Half the people are busy trying their damnest to generate income for the country, in a lesser or greater way and the other half are busy trying to stop the first half. :?

I sometimes ask if they would like to buy any picture frames,if not I then ask them for the telephone number of the person who deals with buying picture frames :giggle:

Another call today from our friends at "Windows Operating System", once again a very poor line, possibly from India but cannot be sure.
This seemed a bit more sinister though, I've noticed that over the last couple of days on my laptop in the workshop, I've searched for a website on google, in this instance it was M&S, nothing dodgy ... :sweating: It took me to some security website instead, this hapened a few times. Once again I get a pop-up asking to send error report so when they speak to me today, they wanted me to log onto my PC whilst on the phone to them, at that point I told them I had a virus on my laptop and had given it to my brother and he was handling it for me. The lady didn't know what to say to that and hung up :giggle: I wonder what they'll come up with next week ?
