Well, Wales has a long history of emigration. Now, of course, it's the English who are moving in and taking over. My excuse is that I at least have Welsh grandparents.Roboframer wrote: Saint Patrick was a Welshman ......

On TPB forum you have the facility to delete your own topic if there have been no replies.
So I have done!
So - no sensible topics left there then!
(Mine had been the most read too!)
Think I'll also delete my reply to Pete Bingham's topic too - I mean no real question is being asked or point being raised, bar maybe that the guy has issues with conservation - the gist of the whole thing is negative and I'm surprised the editor didn't come down on it .... no I'm not - the editor knows diddly spit about framing!!!
But I may just copy Pete's post and paste it here for analysis!!!
Yeah! - let's do it now before they realise they have shot themselves in the foot/fallen at the first hurdle
YOU SHOULDA SAID NICE THINGS!!!
So - after firstly reiterating that I have respect for the guy - here is that post....
"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to be first contributor to this new Framers' Forum as part of the new Picture Business e-zine. Entirely appropriate of course, considering that I'm first in everything else. Let's just hope that it doesn't degenerate into the miserable pit of whiners and whingers that we've had on similar set-ups elsewhere, those that spend half their time asking questions about 'Conservation' in a pathetic attempt to convince everybody that all the work they do is of conservation standard requirement, but never in a million years admit to having a badly adjusted and lubricated Morso, and producing mounts that look as though they were cut with a bread knife. For instance, I recently overheard a supposedly heavily Guild qualified framer announce his intention to do a washline on a mount - he then proceeded to draw a single line round the border of the mount with a fibre tipped pen and then presented it as a 'washline'. If basics like a fundamental grasp of terminology can't be assured, what good can all the conservation hysteria even begin to do.

Sorry I missed your earlier comments Robo.
I'm genuinely glad that you didn't jump ship, this forum would not be the same without your lively input which is 99% entertaining, informative, and helpful. (Too bad about the 1% pain-in-the-tits though.
)
Better that you stay here with us where I can keep an eye on you. (and that 1%)

Picture Business sent me an enewsletter last week - they didn’t seem to have much news - but they did include a link to the PB forum. Not sure how Roboframer managed to get registered - all other members seem to be PB staff - including Mr Bingham. I tried registering - obviously not good enough for such hallowed company - I only wanted to tell Mr Bingham that his first posting wasn’t the best way to start.
Multiple forums make little sense. For TPB to try and muscle in - and then obviously cock up the launch is sad. They have been sending me magazines for years - along with a demand for a subscription - I’ve never paid - they have never stopped sending so I can only assume that revenue is from advertisers not subscribers - a situation that will obviously lead to some very honest and forthright opinions allowed through by the magazine appointed moderators.
So to all you wingers out there - thanks for the years postings - I think John only shut down one when it got a bit heated. Stick to the one and only UK framers forum - the other one might just not like you whingeing on about one of their advertisers products or services.

Me too. Maybe they don't want the hoi polloi dirtying up the place.markw wrote:I tried registering - obviously not good enough for such hallowed company -
The moment my subscription was due they stopped sending the magazine. They did, for a while, email with offers including cut-price membership of FATG.markw wrote:They have been sending me magazines for years - along with a demand for a subscription - I’ve never paid - they have never stopped sending

It is most likely that there is nobody available during the holidays to approve new members to the PB forum.
The approval thing is not necessarily judgemental, rather a measure to keep spammers, and other evil ones, at bay. Sadly we have had to adopt similar measures here.
However I check my email a dozen times a day, so nobody has to wait too long to have their membership approved

Seems lots of people registered actually, including Mick 11, Jeyelle & Welshframer here is the member list All registered on 11 or 12 Dec.
Some thinning out of the memberlist is already needed though - one is in the food business and his 'homepage' is insurance and here is another's 'homepage' http: //2choice.info/

Interesting that Welshframer is a member. I tried to register but was told I had to wait for my membership application to be reviewed and I would be sent an email - which still hasn't arrived.
So, if the tone of the original 'welcome' posting doesn't put someone off joining then they move to the second level of the entrance test and are personally snubbed by having their application ignored. I guess it's some sort of initiative test to weed out undesiraables...
Same here, I gave up after a couple of weeks and still no email. Still would not have known if John hadnt of noticed.WelshFramer wrote: Interesting that Welshframer is a member. Says a lot about it as a forum

likewise, no reply email.
says a lot about how "they" regard other people in the industry, as if chief luddite* bingham hadn't made his ill researched and offensive views clear enough to start with.
* i refer to his recent comments regarding GCF tests and CMC machines, voiced in Picture Business magazine. Tell you what, pete, my CMC is a lot further removed from a breadknife than what you advocate using

Well,
It seems I am the only one here who got in before they all buggered off on holiday!
Should I post a nice message from us all to welcome them back - what should I say?
Norah - maybe I can take that "one percent" plus a bit - to them!
Maybe just the link to this topic - but then why educate them? (as if they are not reading all this anyway)
