This situation is far from over and one can only hope that the experts and their counter measures can eradicate this virus before it becomes a pandemic. If it does become a pandemic, then the current stock piles of anti-virals will not be enogh to treat all of those who become infected and an as yet unknown number of people will die.
These anti-virals are saving lives right now, by interfering with the ability of the virus to reproduce it's self within an infected host and by doing so reducing the risk of further infection to others. If these drugs and implemented pecautions fail to stop this virus from spreading, then we are only buying time and not solving the problem.
One can only guess at what effect such a pandemic will have upon the economy and availability of the things we need if it's a bad one. There's not a lot we can do about this, but we can make sure we have things like paracetamol and a couple of weeks food basics in the cupboard, just in case it comes our way.
