Multi ap platform mount

This is the back of the mount - looking at an under-mount but with 90 degree cut apertures half a mil larger than the cards. Pasted to the back of the multi-aperture mount with freshly nuked starch paste. The paste goes RIGHT to the edge of each 90 degree cut aperture (dark board) Cards simply dropped in once dry.

Fall outs placed back in

and taped over the corners with gummed linen tape

Front - doesn't look any different to how it would if they were hinged or stuck down - but no adhesive whatsoever and a piece of cake with a CMC - tricky without one, but do-able.

Nice job sir, we have been using this method since you posted a how to a while ago, the last time was on Saturday, it has become one of our standard methods of attaching a picture.

Very nice Roboframer. Is it necessary to secure the two mountboards together before putting the cards in?

Absolutely - and right up to the apertures too, to prevent the cards (or whatever) slipping between front and back apertures. The two mounts are one.

Hi and a thank you to Roboframer for imparting this knowledge; I too have used this method several times for photos and it works a dream.

I'm just about to use it for some art on thin paper though and I'm thinking that for security I might hinge the pieces to the fall outs, before refitting them into the slots, so there's no chance of them moving about.

Can anyone see why this might be a bad idea?

Multi aperture like this?

If so I don’t think it necessary unless it’s extremely light tissue paper and even then, probably ok if they are small

It’s two mounting methods, if hinged you don’t need the platform mount and vice-versa, but if it is multi aperture the platform mount will save having to position each item.

Nothing wrong with the idea though, unless hinges could be seen through the paper.

The “soft platform” mount may be an alternative too.
