Wanted: Basic Framing Tools

Post by Dave E »

I am just starting with framing and am on the lookout for all the good quality essentials a beginner might need. Preferably if you are located in Central Scotland to avoid postage hassle.

Welcome Dave

Have you done any research yet? If not, I would suggest going to a library and take a look at several books on the subject of picture framing. Make a list and then refine the list. You might also ask for a catalog from several suppliers. I would caution you that it depends on what you plan on framing as to what "optional" tools you will need.

Try Youtube. There are got guides on framing tools and how to's. Best thing to do is practice with what you have and buy second framing equipment from places like ebay on this forum. This way is low risk and not forking out on expensive kit straight away.

Hi Thanks for the advice guys,I would be looking to start with framing prints/photos. My research so far would suggest a decent mitre saw eg Nobex, mount cutter and hand operated underpinner to start with. Will keep an eye out here and eBay as suggested.

Thanks again

Hi I have a Logan mitre saw which is almost new complete with a spare new saw blade, it cost me £152 6 months ago, have replaced it with a Morso guillotine so excess to my needs. It is in its original box with instructions and video, a super saw ideal for a hobbyist. I can let you have a couple of photos if you are interested. Location Knutsford Cheshire.

Yes it's the same one, tried eBay but buyer didn't complete the deal! Will accept £75 plus postage, it weighs 3.5 kilos so will cost about £13.00 to post via parcel force 48 hour delivery. I also have a hand v nail pinner which you can have for £25. I could post them together, probably be an extra couple of pounds on the postage, I could confirm. Again all in perfect almost new condition.
You can phone me if you want to discuss. 01565 632067.
Cheers
